First, it was my friend who told me about the Uniprep. He started his transfer process before I did and I heard that he got into the school he wanted to go. I always dreamt about going to Parsons so I decided to trust the Uniprep. But the problem was my GPA. The Uniprep first advised me to boost up my GPA with tutoring system that the Uniprep has and in three months I met the most wonderful tutoring teachers. We focused on the writing, the part that I needed help with the most, teachers didn’t just write the essay for me rather taught me how to put my thoughts on essays.
With the Uniprep’s help, I was able to bring up my GPA, a lot, and started my application process. But I had to work very hard on my portfolio and essays since my GPA were still at the edge of the cutline.
First, I was very afraid to start doing my portfolio because I never learned anything about art. But with two portfolio teachers I met at the Uniprep, I was able to finish three portfolio works in the blink of an eye. It was same with my essays, the essay teacher inspired me to be a creative thinker and helped me a lot to elaborate my thoughts on the essays.
After all that process, waiting was the hardest time for me. I even thought of going back to Korea if I were not let in to any schools. And after few weeks, I heard the good news from the Uniprep that I got into both schools I applied to. Now I am a student here at the Parsons. I want everyone who are going through what I went through to know that don’t be afraid of your current problems, trust the Uniprep, follow the plan that the Uniprep gives and most importantly, do your best on everything. You will get what you want!
